Information about Moving In or Out or moving big things within our building.

You Need an Appointment.

Miami towers has a single small lift and narrow stairways servicing a 10-storey building with 36 apartments. These characteristics combined to create the risk that the lift and other elements of the building are damaged, and  the day-to-day lives of other residents are disrupted when furniture and other large objects are moved through the building. To avoid this, we ask that you:

Make an appointment.

Make an appointment using our online form for your movement of furniture or other large objects into or out of the building. Please give our Building Manager five days’ notice so that arrangements can be made to install protective mats and carpet in the lift to avoid damage and if it seems necessary to give notice to other residents. The movement of furnishings and other large objects should commence no earlier than 9 AM and finish by 4 PM. On receipt of your appointment request the Building Manager will provide you with simple guidelines. Complete the appointment form below!

Avoid damage to the building.

Do not damage the lift by interfering with its normal operation. Do not damage the lift by damaging its fittings or surfaces. Do not damage the doors within the building by interfering with their normal operation. Do not damage the surfaces of doors, walls and floors of the building. The Owners Corporation will seek to recover the cost of the repair of any damage done.

Avoid damage to the circular driveway.

Trucks can reverse onto the northern driveway crossing to load and unload but should remain within the road reserve. The wheels of the truck should not encroach on the circular driveway to avoid damage to the brick pavers.

Leave Common Areas clean and tidy.

Do not leave packaging and other rubbish within common areas. In particular, if you have a very large quantity of packaging materials et cetera to remove, take them to the City of Port Phillip’s Resource Recovery Centre, rather than use the rubbish and recycling bins on site. These bins only have sufficient capacity to accommodate the waste generated by residents within the building on a day-to-day basis. Link to information about  the Resource Recovery Centre!

Is my Couch too Big?

It is not uncommon for new residents moving into Miami Towers to encounter the problem that both our lift and our stairways are too small to accommodate some of their larger items of furniture. To avoid the disappointment, the inconvenience and the cost of this risk, new residents are urged to visit our building before moving and inspect the lift and stairways so that they can make an informed judgement about the suitability of some of their larger items. To assist in this the diagrams and text below provide some key dimensions of our lift and stairways.

Plan view of Lift and Ground Floor Entrance Hallway

The dimensions of the interior of the lift are; 1220 mm wide, 1350 mm deep and 2120 mm high. The dimensions of the lift doorway are; 800 mm wide and 2020 mm high. The entrance hallway at the approach to the lift is 1200 mm wide.

Plan view of the Scissor Stairways at Floors one to nine of the Building

Each flight of stairs is 910 mm wide and 1800 mm high. The dimensions of each stair landing is 980 mm wide, 2150 mm long, and 2400 mm high.

NOTES: All the dimensions provided are minimum dimensions on the assumption that when moving large objects, it is usually the minimum dimension which dictates whether or not the object fits within the space, or could be moved through the space. For example, there are handrails within the lift and stairways, the width of these spaces is then measured from the handrail to the opposing wall at the narrowest point. Stair landing also vary in size, the smaller size is referenced.
